Fortnite Chapter 6 Season 1 is finally here and there’s a new island called Oninoshima for loopers to explore. The map brings six Japanese-themed biomes which house POIs that consist of either a samurai castle, a futuristic city, or a magical forest full of sakura trees. On the island, you’ll also find bosses that carry powerful weapons and medallions that are worth looting.

However, you’ll also find adorable creatures called Sprites who give you access to numerous features in the game including traversal abilities, healing abilities, boon, free loot and even letting you explore some secret areas. That’s right – the island has some secret spots like caves and vaults that you can access only if you’re adventurous enough to spot them. As of yet according to our discovery, we’ve found two secret vaults that you can access on the Chapter 6 map. Here’s how to open them both.

How to open Nightshift Forest vault in Fortnite

Nightshift Forest is the first location where you’ll find a secret vault in Fortnite. However, before you do that, you need a key to open it. To do that, find a Sprite roaming nearby and take it to the Bushranger NPC who spawns randomly at one of the three Shrines located in the POI. Once you find him, interact and click on Show Item to hand over the Sprite to him. As soon as he sees it, the skylight will turn into a sunny day and he’ll hand you the Vault Key. You’ll be able to see that key in your inventory.

With the key in hand, now head over to the marked location on the map above where you’ll find a round concrete vault door just down the stairs. Walk closer to the vault and click on Open Vault. Once you do that, you’ll see the vault in front of you slowly open and you’ll see a Typhoon Blade right in front of you. The vault houses two Elemental Chests, and four rare chests to loot. You’ll also see nine Slurp Barrels spread across so you can heal up easily. Claim your loot and enjoy the spoils of this magical forest.

How to access Magic Mosses cave and open the vault in Fortnite

The second secret location is a hidden cave at Magic Mosses POI that you can access directly beneath a shed at the marked spot above. However, it’s recommended you carry a Sprite in your inventory as you’ll need it to open the vault. Once you’re inside the shed, break the floor below you with a pickaxe and you’ll fall down on a platform where you’ll get a loot chest. Claim that chest and break the platform below you to fall inside a water body and access the secret cave.

Now that you’re inside the cave, loot the chests around you, then hold the Sprite and walk towards a rock in the middle of two Turtle statues. When you walk close to it with a Sprite in hand, the rock will automatically lift up, revealing a hidden area. Walk inside the area and break the rock right behind a loot chest. Once you break it, you’ll reveal the secret vault area which will have a Typhoon Blade stand, two Elemental Chests, one rare chest and a bunch of Slurp Barrels. Once you’re done looting take the same way back to the main cave where you’ll find a Port-A-Potty to make your escape.
