With the recent announcement that Omni-Man along with The Boys’ Homelander and DC’s Peacemaker are making their way to Mortal Kombat 1 via the Kombat Pack DLC, we haven’t been able to stop imagining the possible Omni-Man fatalities that’ll come with the inclusion of Nolan Grayson. Both Invincible and Mortal Kombat are no strangers to intense gore so they should complement each other perfectly.
With this in mind and J.K. Simmons now confirmed to be voicing the character, we’ve put together a list of seven Omni-Man fatalities we’d love to see in Mortal Kombat 1.
A journey through the Flaxan homeworld
One of the more brutal scenes in Invincible – and the first time where we outright see Omni-Man’s sinister side – is when he ventures through a portal to the Flaxan’s homeworld after their final attempt at conquering Earth. Imagine this translated into a finishing move in Mortal Kombat 1. It certainly resurfaces memories of the Injustice series to a certain extent but the idea of defeating an opponent only to bring them through a portal and crash them through an entire planet is exactly the sort of thing Omni-Man would probably do.
The head crush
Still to this day, Omni-Man simply popping someone’s head like a balloon makes me wince. I think it’s just the ease at which he does it and it’s always the most brutal kill. Obviously taking out the entire Flaxan civilization is much worse but at least during those scenes, you don’t get the same gory detail you do when you’re up close and personal with Nolan and an unfortunate adversary.
Ground slam
Arguably the most brutal scene from Invincible is delivered in its final episode of Season 1 where Nolan just doesn’t hold back against Mark. While the scene itself is a gut-punch (no pun intended) it has spawned such a wide range of memes that it seems only right for the brutal yet iconic scene to make its way into Mortal Kombat 1.
Please, mind the gap
During Mark and Nolan’s final confrontation, Omni-Man is attempting to “educate” Mark on why he thinks human life is so expendable. During this scene, Nolan grabs Mark by the head and shoves him headfirst into an oncoming train. What follows is one of the most horrifically detailed scenes in the entire show as Mark is forced to watch as his strength simply rips through the oncoming train and passengers. Needless to say, if this way was introduced as either a base combo or even a fatality it would, again, feel like something ripped straight out of Injustice.
If it bleeds…
I may have noted that the head-crushing scenes in Invincible make me wince but when Omni-Man grabbed Cecil’s most loyal lackey, Donald Ferguson, in the spine I physically recoiled. This proposed fatality could also act as a homage to Predator too so really you’re killing two birds, or two snakes, with one stone.
Imma HEAD out
The initial battle between Omni-Man and the Guardians of the Globe is rife with fatality possibilities however I think the final blow between Omni-Man and Immortal is the most Mortal Kombal-esque fatality there is. A straight, clean decapitation that certainly doesn’t hold back. Given, Omni-Man’s complete lack of empathy towards humanity it would almost be the perfect way of showing off his complete and utter disassociation with their lives.
You give love a bad name
Speaking of Immortal, for a guy that can technically live forever he’s constantly being brutally taken down at every opportunity. The second encounter with Omni-Man shows a more savage side of Nolan as he desperately takes one Cecil’s distractions. One of these distractions is the reanimated Immortal with Nolan this time driving his entire fist through the hero’s chest.
Arguably all of these examples would be great picks for Omni-Man’s fatalities in Mortal Komabt 1. Whatever is decided though is sure to be a treat as Invincible creator Robert Kirkman couldn’t even contain himself when speaking about the character’s inclusion in the latest Mortal Kombat entry. In an interview with ComicBook, he said, “The reaction to Invincible was so big that I get to talk to Ed Boon every now and then. It’s the greatest, I have seen so many things. The fatalities… oh my god. It’s the greatest.”
