Some heroes are only as iconic as the actors that play them. Some people say there is no Iron Man without Robert Downey Jr. or no Captain America without Chris Evans. Equally, there is no Omni-Man without J.K.Simmons and thankfully we still won’t have to hear what that sounds like as the award-winning actor is set to reprise the role of Omni-Man in Mortal Kombat 1.

With the recent announcement that Omni-Man would be making his way to Mortal Kombat 1 via the game’s Kombat Pack DLC, all questions have shifted to whether J.K. Simmons would be providing his iconic voice for the role. Fans won’t have to wonder any longer as Mortal Kombat co-creator Ed Boon (via Skybound Games) confirmed J.K. Simmons would be providing voice work for the Invincible character at San Diego Comic-Con.

Fans have rightfully been over the moon as the long-rumoured addition of Omni-Man has finally become official. Alongside this, it was also confirmed that The Boy’s Homelander and DC’s Peacemaker would also be making an appearance via the Kombat Pack DLC. It hasn’t yet been confirmed yet as to whether John Cena and Anthony Starr will be providing the voices for their respective characters but given the recent announcement of J.K. Simmon’s involvement, we can only hope.

Even Invincible’s creator Robert Kirkman was ecstatic about the reveal. Speaking to ComicBook he welcomed the announcement saying, “Oh my god, my legs go weak. I have a character in a Mortal Kombat game, are you kidding me? It’s something that, every time they’d do a DLC, I’d be like ‘Can we get Neegan in there? Can we get Michone in there? What are we doing?’ I’m hounding them like what do I gotta do, let’s do this! The reaction to Invincible was so big that I get to talk to Ed Boon every now and then. It’s the greatest, I have seen so many things. The fatalities… oh my god. It’s the greatest. When we stop recording, I will tell you guys some things. I’m so excited to have a character in Mortal Kombat.”
