Welcome to Heads-up, our weekly feature which gives you an at-a-glance run-down of the games you’ll be able to buy or rent this weekend. Every Monday we’ll pick out the best of the bunch, link to our reviews and previews and keep you in the video game loop so you have enough time to pre-order for Friday’s post. Time to smash open your piggy bank so you can spend its coin-shaped guts.

Tomb Raider has had to fight through a fair bit of negative press on its road to release (a lot of which could have been avoided), but thankfully the final product is an excellent game that does an awful lot right. What’s more, if you pick up the PC version and have a swanky graphics card, you can get Lara’s hair to look pretty.

Perhaps more surprising than Tomb Raider being good is the inclusion of 3DS title Lords of Shadow – Mirror of Fate in our recommended section. You can read our full review here, which says it’s really rather good.

Worth a look

SimCity is bound to be big for EA, but our most recent hands-on with the game left us wondering if the small-ish city sizes will disappoint in the final release. We won’t know for sure until we play the retail release. Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm 3 wins the award for longest game title of the week, but should still be of interest to Naruto fans who have lapped up previous entries in the series, while SEGA’s bundle of Total War: Shogun 2 content is a good place to start if you’ve yet to play it and the upcoming Total War: Rome II has got your interest.
