Welcome to Heads-up, our weekly feature which gives you an at-a-glance run-down of the games you’ll be able to buy or rent this weekend. Every Monday we’ll pick out the best of the bunch, link to our reviews and previews and keep you in the video game loop so you have enough time to pre-order for Friday’s post. Time to smash open your piggy bank so you can spend its coin-shaped guts.

Recommended: DmC Devil May Cry – Xbox 360 and PS3

Capcom and Ninja Theory sure took some flak for their new take on Dante and Devil May Cry, but with the game now with us it’s fair to say that things turned out pretty well. It’s hard to say if DMC purists will take to Ninja Theory’s game as well as general action game fans, but we certainly hope they give new Dante a chance. There’s no question that this is Ninja Theory’s best game to date, with the studio finally delivering combat mechanics that don’t disappoint alongside top-notch production values. We couldn’t have asked for a much better start to 2013.

And the rest…

The release schedule hasn’t quite kicked back into full gear yet (we’ll have to wait a few weeks for the games to start piling in), but Wii U owners who don’t have DmC to play can do some singing instead. Whether or not anyone will want to fork out for yet another game + microphone bundle remains to be seen, but with SiNG Party you can face your audience and read the song lyrics from the Wii U GamePad screen.
