Welcome to Heads-up, our weekly feature which gives you an at-a-glance run-down on the games you’ll be able to buy or rent this weekend. Every Monday we’ll pick out the best of the bunch, link to our reviews and previews and keep you in the video game loop so you have enough time to pre-order for Friday’s post. Time to smash open your piggy bank so you can spend its coin-shaped guts.

The new releases are finally arriving at something faster than a snail’s pace, with three titles worth of consideration this week. Metal Gear Solid HD Collection is our pick of the bunch, if only for the superb Snake Eater. Final Fantasy XIII-2 appears to be an improvement on the previous entry in the series, and you can look out for our Soulcalibur 5 review on Tuesday morning.

Worth a look

We’re going to bring you our verdict on NeverDead soon, with our early impressions suggesting the game could go either way. It’s certainly got a nice gimmick going for it, in the form of a character that can’t die.

And the rest…

  • Crusader Kings 2 – PC
  • Wicked Monsters: Blast! – Wii
  • Deep Black: Reloaded – PC
