Features to consider when looking for a TV Cyber Monday deal

Our top three things to consider when choosing a TV during Cyber Monday are resolution, refresh rate and panel type.

Resolution – Now most content and consoles support 4K, this is definitely the resolution you’ll want to go if you want to future-proof your TV. With 8K still some time off from being the standard, 4K is a good value investment to enjoy the football or film in all its colour.

Refresh Rate – If you’re looking for a gaming TV, perhaps for your PS5 or Xbox Series X/S, then you’ll want a TV that can operate at least at 120Hz. This covers your bases for next-generation gaming so if you’re a gamer than make sure you consider this. If you’re simply planning on watching home entertainment, 60Hz will work perfectly fine.

Panel type – Panel types determine the brightness of your screen, and the difference is based on the different technology used for light production. You can get LEDs, OLEDs and QLEDs. Samsung leads the way for OLEDs, and their TVs have an impressive rep for producing stunning displays.

Who makes the best TV?

What a difficult question! The truth is, is that there is no definitive answer. Since you’ve put us on the spot though, our top three are as follows:

  1. LG
  2. Sony
  3. Samsung

What is the best TV for gaming?

Not dwelling too much on the price here, LG G1 is the best TV for gaming and it’ll definitely be included in the Cyber Monday sales.

Here are the LG G1 specifications:

  • Size: 55”
  • Resolution: 4K UHD
  • Panel type: OLED
  • Refresh rate: 120Hz
  • Connectivity: 4 x HDMI 2.1

What is the best 65 inch TV available during Cyber Monday?

Our favourite 65-inch TV that is currently on sale for Black Friday is the LG 65″ C2 OLED evo 4K UHD Smart TV, which is discounted on Best Buy for $2,099 now $1,699.

We’ve already crowned it as one of the best 4K gaming TVs currently available for PS5 and think it’s a great investment to make.

Our TV expert Charlie from WePC had this to add:

‘You’re paying a premium but this is a  TV that you won’t be replacing for years. What’s great here are the 4 HDMI 2.1 ports – many older models, like the BX, just have two, which limits 120Hz at 4K connectivity. If budget is no option, the G1 is a fantastic option and will serve gamers well.’

Did we also mention it’s an excellent choice for watching sports on thanks to it’s 120Hz refresh rate and it’s OLED panel.

Black Friday TV FAQs

Do I need HDMI 2.1 for 4K gaming on PS5 or Xbox Series X/S?

No – but only if you’re not planning on gaming higher than 120Hz. For next-gen gaming though, we definitely think you should get a TV with HDMI 2.1.

How much do TV prices drop on Black Friday?

Each year we see big slashes on TVs since tech retailers know they are a popular product during the Black Friday sales. If you’re buying an older model TV, it’s likely that you’ll see discounts going up to 60% off, whilst newer models will have smaller discounts (though they could still save you hundreds).

What is 4K UHD?

UHD means 4 times HD (3840×2160), making it a very similar pixel account to 4K. Howver, 4K is 4096×2160, so has 256 more pixels than UHD.
