There are rumors of a PlayStation State of Play for February 2026. It is reportedly expected to occur during the week of February 12, suggesting an announcement from Sony could be imminent. While a State of Play presentation has not been officially confirmed, often-reliable insider Shinobi602 claims that although the Assassin’s Creed Black Flag remake will not be present, its release is not “too far off”.
State of Play is a Sony-hosted event that showcases announcements and trailers for both first-party exclusives and third-party games coming to PS5. As spotted by the GamingLeaksAndRumors subreddit, Shinobi602 responded on ResetEra to speculation about the Black Flag remake appearing during the rumored February presentation.
In response to one user suggesting the Assassin’s Creed Black Flag remake could be revealed, Shinobi602 simply replied, “Nah”. When another user questioned why Ubisoft has yet to officially reveal the game, Shinobi602 added, “There’s a reveal and release set, it’s just not time yet. Not too far off”.

Insider Gaming’s Tom Henderson previously reported that the original plan was for the Assassin’s Creed Black Flag remake to release before the end of March 2026, but it now appears to have been delayed into fiscal year 2027. This would place its release sometime between April 2026 and the end of March 2027, though Ubisoft has not explicitly confirmed this.
The original Black Flag launched in 2013 and was the sixth Assassin’s Creed game released, though its story is tenth in the series’ chronological timeline. Set during the Golden Age of Piracy between 1715 and 1722, the game follows protagonist Edward Kenway as he transitions from pirate to a member of the Assassin Brotherhood.
Although Ubisoft has yet to announce the remake, several leaks have surfaced in the past, including an 18+ rating for Black Flag Resynced from PEGI, the age certification board for video games across Europe.
State of Play February 2026 rumors
Sony has not officially announced a State of Play for February 2026, meaning the presentation remains a rumor as of this writing. The speculation began on X from NateTheHate, a reliable insider who accurately leaked the Nintendo Direct this February.
While NateTheHate only stated that a presentation is happening this month, Giant Bomb’s Jeff Grubb later elaborated, claiming it will take place during the week of February 12.
Sony hosted State of Play events in February for 2021, 2022, 2023, and 2025, so a presentation this month would not be surprising. The only exception was 2024, when the event took place on January 31 instead.
As for what could appear during a February presentation, Hideo Kojima has teased that he is working on a new game trailer, which is likely related to the Death Stranding 2 PC port that was leaked by PEGI in November 2025.
Other likelihoods include one final look at Resident Evil Requiem ahead of its February 27 release, as well as another showing of Marathon before its launch on March 5. We could also see Crimson Desert, which has gone gold to cement its long-anticipated release for March 19.
We would also love to see more of Tomb Raider Legacy of Atlantis as it’s releasing sometime this year, and February 14 is Lara Croft’s canonical birthday, an occasion Crystal Dynamics typically celebrates with fans, such as with the releases of Tomb Raider 1-3 and 4-6 Remastered in 2024 and 2025.
