Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 3 is one of the most anticipated titles currently in development. While there’s no release date yet, director Naoki Hamaguchi has recently said that the game is “playable,” with Square Enix now polishing it to deliver the best possible experience. There are many moments we can’t wait to see unfold in FF7 Part 3, and Hamaguchi has reportedly said that Square Enix has “nailed” the iconic Lifestream scene between Cloud and Tifa.
As spotted by Final Fantasy fan account clotiOTP on X (via Japanese news aggregator Genki_JPN), streamer Vinesauce claimed on January 26 that he had lunch with Hamaguchi in New York City.
Vinesauce further claims that he asked Hamaguchi which scene he’s most looking forward to in Part 3 that we have yet to see adapted from the original Final Fantasy 7, released in 1997. The streamer notes that Hamaguchi’s response came through an interpreter, but the director reportedly pointed to the pivotal Lifestream scene between Cloud and Tifa, adding that Square Enix “nailed” it.
In a separate post on X discussing Vinesauce’s comments, Washington Post games journalist Gene Park vouched for the streamer, calling him a “legend and OG”. Vinesauce currently has 649,000 followers on Twitch, alongside over one million subscribers on his main YouTube channel.
Assuming Hamaguchi’s reported comments are accurate, this is exciting news for Final Fantasy 7 fans. Without spoiling the moment for those who haven’t played the original, the Lifestream scene is one of the most pivotal and iconic moments in the story, particularly for the character arc of Cloud and his relationship with Tifa.
While Aerith has the most famous scene in Final Fantasy 7, and potentially across the entire Final Fantasy series, the Lifestream scene between Cloud and Tifa is arguably a close second.
There’s still no release date for Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 3, though there is hope it could arrive in 2027. Hamaguchi has recently discussed the usefulness of AI to streamline menial development tasks rather than creative ones, and he has also praised the smoothness of the game’s development.
Part 3 will conclude the remake trilogy, but Hamaguchi has previously stated that Square Enix is considering post-launch DLC, unlike with Rebirth. This has sparked speculation that maybe we could get a playable adaptation of Advent Children, the 2007 CG film that serves as a sequel to the original Final Fantasy 7 experience on PS1.
