After releasing two of the most popular multiplayer games on the planet, Riot Games has dipped its well-financed toes into the fighting game genre with 2XKO. Codenamed Project L and then rebranded to 2XKO, Riot’s 2v2 fighting game was first announced in 2019 alongside a slew of upcoming projects, including an MMORPG and an action RPG hack-and-slasher.

Since then, we’ve had numerous development updates, a PC early access launch in October 2025, followed by a full release in 2026, also on console. Here’s everything you need to know about Riot’s fighting game, 2XKO.

✓ VideoGamer Summary
  • 2XKO launched on PC in October 2025.
  • The PS5 and Xbox Series X|S console version launched in January 2026.
  • The game features champions from League of Legends, including the likes of Teemo, Blitzcrank, Jinx, Darius, and Illaoi.

In keeping with its League of Legends inspirations, 2XKO features a stacked roster that will be more than a little familiar to those familiar with Riot’s widely successful MOBA. So far, 2XKO features eleven champions, as follows:

  • Ahri
  • Blitzcrank
  • Braum
  • Darius
  • Ekko
  • Illaoi
  • Jinx
  • Teemo
  • Vi
  • Warwick
  • Yasuo
  • Caitlyn

There are plans for further champions in post-launch updates, including Katarina. We also imagine that Riot Games will continue to release fresh playable fighters as part of its ongoing support for 2XKO, much like it does for Valorant and League of Legends.

2XKO trailers

Head over to the official 2XKO YouTube channel, and you’ll find dozens of dev updates, trailers, guides, gameplay deep dives, character reveals, and music previews. To save you time, we’ve curated the three most relevant offerings below.

To start, we have the original trailer that revealed the switch from Project L to 2XKO. It’s an action-packed, hypnotic dive into the fighting game, featuring sleek gameplay sequences and stylized character vignettes.

Next up, we have the official 2XKO cinematic trailer. Accompanied by a tune featuring Courtney LaPlante from Spiritbox, it offers a comprehensive look at the characters and settings that define 2XKO’s League of Legends inspirations. Beautifully animated, it’s more stylistically aligned with the excellent Arcane spin-off animated series than the MOBA itself.

We also have a trailer that unveils the console release window. Short and sweet, it showcases the fighting game in action on consoles, which is indistinguishable from the PC version, a testament to Riot Games’ knack for optimization and offering a homogeneous experience across all platforms.

Lastly, to mark 2XKO’s console release, Riot cooked up a Season 1 launch trailer.

2XKO is currently already available on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S. There’s been no mention of a Switch 2 version, and it seems likely that this will remain the case.

Riot Games has never released any of its flagship games on Nintendo consoles. We could, however, potentially see Riot push out a mobile version somewhere down the line, as we saw with League of Legends Wild Rift and Teamfight Tactics.
