With the release of The Simpsons season in November 2025, Fortnite introduced Sidekicks. These are pets that serve as cosmetic items, and as such, they give players no competitive advantage. Each pet costs 1,000 V-Bucks or more, which has caused a lot of controversy and negative feedback in the community. Despite this, Sidekicks have become some of the best-selling items in the video game.
If you own a pet, it’s hard to resist owning one in Fortnite, regardless of its price. Due to this, it’s no surprise that Epic Games has achieved so much success with Sidekicks, and we expect them to be popular for many years to come.
How popular are Sidekick pets in Fortnite?
Since November 2025, Epic Games has released 19 Sidekicks. One of them, Peels, was included in a Battle Pass, while all the other ones have been released to the Item Shop. The cheapest pet costs 1,000 V-Bucks, while you need to spend 1,500 for some of them. In other words, pets are nearly as expensive as skins. Oddly, this makes sense.
Initially, players complained about pets being useless. However, the same is true for skins. While many Fortnite skins look incredible, they provide no competitive advantage. Some skins can only be obtained from bundles that cost over $30, yet they only offer a different character design.
Ever since Sidekicks arrived in the Item Shop, they’ve become best-sellers. This was the case in the last mini-season, and they have dominated the early shops of Fortnite Chapter 7. While they do cost a lot, it appears that Epic Games has hit another jackpot, and we can’t wait to see all the new Sidekicks that will be released in the future.
