Exodus returned to The Game Awards, and, although we still don’t have a release date, we now know it is slated to release in early 2027. The sci-fi RPG was first announced at The Game Awards in 2023, and it stars Hollywood legend, Matthew McConaughey, who you may recognize as the star of Christopher Nolan’s Interstellar.

In addition to being a sci-fi RPG, Exodus is considered a spiritual successor to the legendary Mass Effect trilogy because its developer, Archetype Entertainment, comes from a team of former BioWare veterans, including Drew Karpyshyn, who is the narrative director and was the lead writer for Mass Effect 1 and 2.

Exodus puts you in the shoes of Jun Aslan, a salvager turned Traveler. It is third-person and, again, like Mass Effect, you fight alongside companions who have their own unique strengths and weaknesses.

It is coming to PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. Matthew McConaughey announced Exodus at The Game Awards in 2023, and the Hollywood hall of famer has been heavily present in marketing the game because he actually voices a character called C.C. Orlev, of whom very few details have been shared.

The Game Awards has been amazing, with the announcement of a new Divinity from Baldur’s Gate 3 developer, Larian, plus confirmation of Leon returning in Resident Evil Requeim. The show also opened with the announcement of a new Star Wars single-player RPG called Fate of the Republic, directed by Casey Hudson, who directed Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic and the Mass Effect triogy.
