Larian Studios, the developer of The Game Awards 2023 GOTY winner Baldur’s Gate 3, is officially returning to the Divinity franchise. Divinity is Larian’s cult classic RPG before the developer achieved massive success with Baldur’s Gate 3, and the surprise of returning to Divinity was spoiled by the reveal of trademarks perfectly aligning with the mysterious demon statue teased by The Game Awards’ host and founder, Geoff Keighley, on November 29.

During The Game Awards, an epic trailer was released for Larian’s newest installment in the Divinity franchise. It is simply called Divinity, and we only saw a cinematic trailer full of brutality.

There is no release date for the new Divinity game as of yet. The franchise dates back to 2002 with Divine Divinity, and the most recent installment is the Divinity Original Sin 2 Definitive Edition, released in 2017. We know the new Divinity is developed using Unreal Engine 5, but anymore details are still kept under wraps.

Unlike the Divinity Original Sin games, which are turn-based RPGs, the other Divinity installments are action-RPGs. We don’t know if this Divinity is action or turn-based, as details aren’t revealed, but, according to Larian’s CEO, Swen Vincke, it is the studio’s “biggest most ambitious RPG yet”.

Besides this new Divinity game, Larian is  working on another game simultaneously, according to Swen Vincke.
