Palworld has effectively been confirmed as coming to the PS5 by a Tokyo Game Show timetable. We’ve been waiting for a while for confirmation, and previously promoted partnerships with Sony have fed into the rumour mill. Initially, Palworld had been exclusive to Xbox and PC, partly due to the exclusivity deal with Game Pass. However, we’re going to be playing it on PlayStation soon enough.

This comes courtesy of Gematsu, who shared the full schedule for the event in Tokyo. In the image below, you can see several. listings from Pocketpair, the game’s developers. The link on the right confirms it is Palworld specific, though it’s important to note that there are two listings for the game. The first one lists the initial release date of the game, January 19th, 2024, alongside a mark in the PlayStation, Xbox Series X, and Steam boxes. The second listing for Palworld features much of the same information – notably without the mark for PS5 – and a note saying ‘now on sale.’

It’s important to note that this isn’t an official confirmation, only a third-party suggestion. It’s very possible it’s a clerical mistake, though that does seem unlikely. Pocketpair will likely confirm for itself that Palworld is coming to the PS5 at the presentation, though it shouldn’t come as any surprise especially considering Sony’s heavy involvement in the project – both technically and financially.

Bucky, from Pocketpair, has also tweeted suggestive hints in the past. The most obvious example is from back in June, when they tweeted that they want to add more hearts around Palworld. Showing green, Xbox; black, Steam; and blue, PlayStation, the suggestion was undeniable proof that the Pokémon-inspired gun game was going to land on the PS5. There’s also a good chance that this is going to be a game specifically designed with the PS5 Pro in mind, which might be why there’s been such a delay in release.
