EA has announced details of four new downloadable games coming to various platforms in the spring and summer of 2011.
EA Partners announced an agreement with independent developer Trapdoor, to publish Warp, a unique stealth action game set in a top-down sci-fi world with a distinctive art style. The game will debut on Xbox LIVE Arcade, PSN and PC in summer 2011.
Also from EA Partners is Vanguard Games' Gatling Gears. From the team that created the award-winning Greed Corp, Gatling Gears is set within the same Mistbound universe featuring collapsing land, walker units and warring factions, but now with twin-stick shooter controls and a new hero, Max Brawley. In an eclectic steampunk setting, players fill the air with lead as they try to defeat a monopolistic corporation that is depleting the world of its natural resources. Gatling Gears will launch on Xbox LIVE Arcade, PSN and PC in spring 2011.
EA and Borne Games have announced that Flash game, The Fancy Pants Adventures, is coming to Xbox LIVE and PSN in spring 2011. The Fancy Pants Adventures is being developed by Over The Top Games in partnership with Borne Games and EA 2D, a dedicated team inside of EA focused on creating high-quality games within the direct-to-consumer market. The side-scrolling platformer features a unique, hand-drawn style and has been played over 100 million times on browsers. The XBLA and PSN game combines the adventures from the original two games and adds an entirely new world, all-new story and new modes designed exclusively for consoles.
Finally comes Wildlife: Forest Survival, an original IP for XBLA and PSN from the EA Play Label. The new multiplayer title casts players as wild animals and immerses them in a head-to-head battle in an unpredictable forest environment where only the dominant species can survive. The game's set for spring 2011.
EA's new downloadable game line-up offers a mix of casual and more traditional games. We can see the three core-targeted games finding a decent audience, but we're not entirely sure EA Play Label's animal fighting game has much of a chance.
