Hideo Kojima has warned that Metal Gear Solid 5: Ground Zeroes "might look a little behind" other games designed exclusively for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One because of the limitations of Fox Engine.

"Fox Engine was created with the current generation in mind," Kojima told Eurogamer during TGS. "Maybe with other games that are being created exclusively for next-gen it might look a little behind.

"Of course for the next generation the resolution and the lighting will look much better," he added. "Gameplay wise it will be the same - we're trying to make it as close as possible. The gameplay experience won't be affected whether it's next gen or current gen."

The next-generation versions will also offer an improved frame rate over the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 versions, Kojima confirmed, with the game rendering at 60FPS on next-gen and 30FPS on 360/PS3.

This isn't the first time Kojima has expressed doubt over Metal Gear Solid 5's visuals. Following the reveal of Ubisoft's The Division at E3, Kojima said that he would "have to work harder" to match the quality of Ubisoft's game.

Metal Gear Solid 5: Ground Zeroes is the open-world prologue to Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain. Release dates for either title have yet to be announced. Analysis

Considering how good Metal Gear Solid 5: Ground Zeroes looks already, I'd love to see these better looking games Kojima is referring to.

I thought they only just completed the FOX Engine... why would they make an engine geared towards current gen?! Jeez how long it is going to take them to make an engine geared towards PS4 and Xbox One then?

Is he just trying to be modest? One of the nicest looking games I've ever seen.
