Hints at possibility of exploring the Kickstarter route.
A gabble of former Rare employees have taken to Twitter under the @MingyJongo name to drum up support for the idea of creating the spiritual successor to classic N64 platformer Banjo-Tooie.
The group features series composer Grant Kirkhope and artist Steven Hurst – plus others - and the Twitter profile states: "Let's make the spiritual successor to Banjo-Tooie! Core members of the original team are ready to go. All we need is your support. So join us today!"
One Tweets suggests the game would be a 3D platformer, but points out it would not "try and recreate Banjo. It would be something new".
This would have to be the case, given Rare retains the rights to the Banjo IP.
One route which may gain traction is Kickstarter, believes the team, with the Unity engine being "perfect for our spiritual successor".
"I'm thinking keeping level of detail and googly eyes close to the original."
We'd be up for a new 3D platformer. Let's just hope MingyJongo manges to get the project off the ground.
