The Wii U version of Watch Dogs has been delayed, Ubisoft has confirmed.

The title is still on track to launch on Xbox One, Xbox 360, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3 and PC between April and June 2014, with the Wii U version following at a later date.

In a statement provided to VideoGamer.com following the announcement, a Ubisoft spokesperson said:

"We made the difficult decision to further delay the release of Watch Dogs on Wii U to focus the team's resources where they could have the broadest possible benefit for both our customers and Ubisoft".

The delay follows rumours that the Wii U version had been cancelled after pre-orders for the game were cancelled by GameStop Italy and its absence from Nintendo's release schedule.

Lame I was excited for this game but it's a turn off for it to be developed for last-gen systems and Wii U.

Alexx, you probably should seek mental-health counseling. The delayed game is the least of your worries.

Well that's depressing, if not also somewhat expected. At least it's still coming to Wii U.

I'm quite looking forward to Watch Dogs (on Wii U). It's weird, we've known about this game for so long, that it's gone from something that I was very excited for, to something that I felt had been over hyped and I got bored of seeing, and now back to the something I'm actually quite looking forward to again.

October 2013

Ubisoft Montreal creative director Jonathan Morin has said that Watch Dogs is a beautiful game to play on Wii U.

Speaking with CVG, Morin stated that the game looks better on Wii U than on Xbox 360 or PS3, although it's not on a par with the next generation versions.

"I would say the Wii U version is pretty much in between what the current gen is and what the next gen is from a version standpoint," said Morin. "It's hard to position it. I would tend to say it's maybe a bit closer to current gen than next gen for certain things but it's a beautiful game on Wii U and it's cool to play it just on the GamePad."

Where is OFFICIAL ubisoft statement?
why in the world if this is official there is no communications on Wiiu watchdog page or ubisoft page?
why in documents posted on ubisoft investor pages there is no info about this ?

if your source is the conference call does it means you attended to this directly or you got info from other people?
