LittleBigPlanet 2 is riding high in the charts, but that isn’t stopping Sony from running an extensive advertising campaign over the next few months. Ads are currently appearing in film breaks on terrestrial channels Five, Fiver and Five USA, and will continue for two weeks. Sponsorship will run for two months.

Sony UK’s Marlene Fitzsimmons told MCV that “LittleBigPlanet was and continues to be a massive success with the community” and the company anticipates “the sequel to build on this past success and be bigger than ever.”

A LittleBigPlanet online hub will give every created level its own web page and users will be able to queue up downloads for new content. To further increase interest in the title, competitions will be run on YouTube and the EU PlayStation Blog.

We awarded LittleBigPlanet 2 an excellent 9/10 earlier in the month.

While LittleBigPlanet 2 didn’t beat the week one sales of the original game, it only fell 100 or so units short and had fewer days on sale. Sony will be hoping that positive reviews and continued advertising prevent sales from dropping off too much in the weeks to follow.
