The Finals on an almost weekly basis gets an update that includes balance changes as well as gameplay tweaks and bug fixes. Such an update hasn’t come out this week, but that’s an anomaly rather than the norm. While fans usually have good ideas for changes to the game, there is a hot take for changes to revive that The Finals fans unanimously agree is not a good idea.

Embark has explained that there was no regular update for The Finals this week because they are working on delivering ‘Something very cool’. Fans believe it is a new game mode, and this belief has been further reinforced with the devs playtesting a new mode that includes eliminations. In addition to this new mode, the next update will introduce announced nerfs that have massively divided fans.

While we know what to expect from patch 2.6.0 when it eventually arrives, fans are always looking for and suggesting other ways to improve the game. Most ideas are either good or debatable, but one hot take about changes to revives has fans collectively screaming absolutely not.

The Finals changes to revives hot take

On The Finals subreddit, a hot take has been shared about changes to revives. The idea is that ‘multiple teammates should be able to join in a revive to speed it up‘.

The Reddit thread says ‘Currently if you attempt to revive a teammate who is dead it locks all other teammates out of reviving them. I think it would be interesting if instead they could join in the revive and it sped up the revive by 20-25%’.

In an edit acknowledging all of the disagreements, the OP says ‘the amount of times I go to revive a teammate then realise another team teammate is crouched behind me doing it already is annoying. Feel like some sort of change in this area would lead to a little better player experience’.

On paper, the idea isn’t too bad as there are multiplayer games that allow players to collectively revive teammates to speed up the process. However, although it does exist in a few other multiplayer experiences, fans collectively agree it wouldn’t be a good idea for The Finals.

One of the top replies says ‘Making revives easier than they already are would only break the game further’. Then there are replies which point out how horrible and frustrating it would be due to classes. One comment says ‘this game is already frustrating to play against Mediums that are running heal beam and defibs’ around each other, to which another comment says ‘Imagine a full team of heavies with bubble, mesh and barricades all speed healing. No no no no no’.

Another comment says ‘Revives are already pretty quick’ so they don’t need any more speed, while another comment logically points out that it is actually better for one player to revive while another defends.

Fortunately, although fans are fighting online over incoming nerfs for the Light class, Embark hasn’t hinted at any other gameplay changes for the game. The stun gun and cloaking device will both be nerfed in patch 2.6.0, but that is all that has been announced so far.
