Director Paul W.S. Anderson will helm the upcoming movie adaptation of Capcom's Monster Hunter, Variety has confirmed.
Inevitably, this means that Milla Jovovich will be starring in the upcoming monster-mashing flick, having previously featured as the undead arse-kicking Alice in the Resident Evil films, which Anderson was also heavily involved in.
The Monster Hunter film will come packing a budget of $60 million and will enter into production this autumn, with filming taking place in South Africa around the Cape Town area. Constantin will be financing the movie itself, while Resident Evil special effects maestros Mr. X will be providing all the technical wizardry for the flick.
Not much is known about the film right now, although presumably it will involve a bunch of people hunting monsters. You never know with Anderson though; his Resi movies deviated considerably from the source material, and by the time The Final Chapter came around back in 2016 made absolutely no sense whatsoever.
Still, they were a massive hit at the box office, with all six films combined generating over one billion dollars worldwide. The series is set to be rebooted for the big screen though, with Anderson (thankfully) no longer involved.
Capcom's Monster Hunter World launched on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in January this year, and quickly became the publisher's fastest-selling title to date.
