We know that Nvidia’s new and highly anticipated GPU is coming today, but we do not have a precise RTX 4080 release time. Fortunately, there is some good information, from which we can make an educated guess of what kind of time we could see the 4080 Super go live on retailers’ sites.

This information could prove precious too. After the RTX 4070 Super started to appear as sold out mere minutes after launch, prospective RTX 4080 Super buyers will want to avoid missing out on the opportunity to get their hands on the new card.

If you’ve checked out our article on where to buy the RTX 4080 Super, you’ll know where the card is launching, now let’s have a look at the when.

RTX 4080 Super release time predictions

We do not have an official release time for the RTX 4080 Super. We also know that it is dropping today, meaning that it is unlikely we will be getting any prior warning for the GPU going live on retailers’ websites. This does not mean we are totally in the dark though. In fact, we can make an educated guess about the release time of this new card, with a fair amount of confidence.

This is because we’ve already seen two other Nvidia GPUs launch this month, the RTX 4070 Super and RTX 4070 Ti Super. Just like this RTX 4080 Super, both of these had launch dates on a Wednesday and had no official release time prior to dropping. Crucially both of them were also made live at the same time as one another, making it fairly likely the RTX 4080 Super will be launching at the same time.

When is it coming out in the US and UK?

In the US that time was an early 6AM PT / 9AM ET, which translates to 2PM GMT in the UK. This is the time we are predicting the RTX 4080 Super will go live, but remember that this is nonetheless a prediction and so to be taken with a pinch of salt.

Frequently asked questions

As with any new GPU launch, there are a tonne of questions to ask before you can know if it’s the right card for you. We’ve answered a few of them here.

Is RTX 4080 Super better than RTX 4080?

Yes, the RTX 4080 Super is essentially a refreshed RTX 4080. This means it is a more powerful and efficient card, featuring a bumped up CUDA core count as well as improvements to memory. What’s more, it has also got a lower MSRP than the normal 4080. Providing the 4080’s price doesn’t drop significantly, the 4080 Super makes more sense to invest in.

Is the RTX 4080 Super overkill for 4k?

No, the RTX 4080 Super is a GPU very well suited to 4K gaming, in fact, it is easily one of the best cards out there for the resolution, offering high frame rates even on high settings. This is thanks to its impressive internal specs, as well as premium software features such as DLSS 3.
