Wanting to know whether the RTX 4060 can run Phantom Liberty with path tracing? We’ve got you covered right here.

If you’re patrolling the streets of Night City, you can probably appreciate how aesthetic it is. To enhance this aesthetic, certain graphics cards will have a ray tracing and a path tracing option. It means in scenes withs either lots of shadows, light, or water, the feature can be used to bring detail and clarity. Where ray tracing can be more effective at rendering scenes with lots of shadows and darkness, path tracing is considered more effective for scenes that are well-lit. Path tracing paired with the best graphic settings for Cyberpunk 2077 2.0’s update, will leave you with a visually stunning experience.

For now though, let’s talk about path tracing and whether Nvidia’s RTX 4060 can run Phantom Liberty with it.

Can the RTX 4060 run Phantom Liberty with path tracing?

Yes it can but we wouldn’t recommend it. While path tracing might be a feature that the RTX 40 series has, it doesn’t mean it’s guaranteed to run in Cyberpunk 2077 specifically. To run Phantom Liberty with path tracing, you need at least a RTX 4070 Ti or a RTX 3090. Even with these graphics card, it requires some setting adjustments as if you’re not running DLSS it will degrade the performance significantly. With the addition of path tracing and full ray tracing, the appropriate GPU can realistically simulate the light from different sources within the game. The results will see screens filled with physically correct shadows, reflections, and global illumination on all objects.

Do you need an RTX card for path tracing?

To use path tracing, your PC or laptop needs to be equipped with either any Nvidia RTX graphics card or an AMD RX 6000 series or higher graphics card. It is technically possible to use path tracing without an RTX GPU such as the Nvidia GTX graphics cards but it doesn’t run as effectively. The path tracing effects are not as fully featured on other cards as those available on the GeForce RTX graphics cards of which, are specifically designed for path tracing calculations. Remember though, for Phantom Liberty specifically, you need a GPU higher than a RTX 4070 Ti or an RTX 3090.
