The fight seems like an event from the strangest possible timeline, and its reveal seemed like a headline ripped straight from The Onion. You’d be completely right in wondering if the Elon Musk vs Mark Zuckerberg fight is actually happening, though.
Elon Musk, well-known for his Twitter debates, and Mark Zuckerberg, who rose to fame after a film called The Social Network echoed eerily similar to his own life story, have apparently agreed to fight each other in a cage match. The exchange took place across Twitter and Facebook, with Musk using his social media platform and Zuckerberg using his.
After Musk tweeted that he is “up for a cage match if [Zuckerberg] is”, the Meta CEO then replied via an Instagram Story to “Send Me Location”.
It sounds like the most ridiculous possible scenario, but often that’s the most likely. So – is it even happening?
Is the Elon Musk vs Mark Zuckerberg fight really happening?
The exchange began after rumours began circulating of Threads, which is apparently Meta’s answer to Twitter. When tweeted about Zuckerberg coming for Musk’s Twitter, Musk replied that he’s “sure Earth can’t wait to be exclusively under Zuck’s thumb with no other options. At least it will be ‘sane’. Was worried there for a moment.” Not long after this, Musk was warned that the Meta CEO does Jiu Jitsu now, and that’s when Musk challenged him to a cage bout.
How serious is Musk about this?
The Verge wrote an article that the two tech giants are ready to fight each other, and Musk tweeted in response that it’s going to be happening in a “Vegas Octagon”, followed by news that he has a “great move” called the “The Walrus” which involved lying on top of the opponent and doing nothing.
This entire collection of events all sounds like a fantasy – an absurd, unfathomable fantasy – there’s a strong chance that it is just that. While many out there, including Dana White of the UFC and former wrestler Chael Sonnen, have claimed that the fight will be going ahead – it doesn’t seem all too likely.
