How to connect AirPods to MacBook Pro & Air?

Before you connect your AirPods to MacBook Pro & Air, make sure your MacBook meets the macOS requirements:

  1. For 2nd generation AirPods: macOS Mojave 10.14.4 or later.
  2. For 3rd generation AirPods: macOS Monterey or later.
  3. For 1st generation AirPods Pro: macOS Catalina 10.15.1 or later.
  4. For 2nd generation AirPods Pro: the latest version of macOS.

If you already use your AirPods with an iPhone and your MacBook Pro or Air uses the same Apple ID as your iPhone, you are already set to use your AirPods with your Mac.

Just put the AirPods in your ears and click on the volume control icon in the top menu bar to select AirPods from the audio output options.

If you don’t use your AirPods with your iPhone or if your AirPods aren’t paired with your Mac, you will need to pair them first:

Step 1: Turn on Bluetooth on your Mac

From the Apple menu in the top menu bar, go to System Settings > Bluetooth, and turn it on.

Step 2: Pair your AirPods

Open the lid of your AirPods case and make sure the AirPods are inside. Now press and hold the setup button at the back until you see the white light flashing.

Step 3: Connect your AirPods

Choose your AirPods from the Devices list and then click on Connect.

You are all set to use your AirPods with your MacBook Pro or Air.
