91% of all physical copies of Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 sold in the UK during its opening week were for current-gen consoles, GfK Chart-Track has revealed, with just 8 per cent sold on Xbox 360 and PS3.

As with last year’s Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare, PS4 managed to secure the most amount of sales, grabbing 48% of all physical copies sold, with Xbox One behind at 43%. Xbox 360 grabbed 5% of sales, with PS3 managing just 3%. That leaves just 1% for PC.

The figures mean that Sony platforms edged ahead of Xbox for what is expected to be the first time for a Call of Duty title, securing 51% of all physical sales. Xbox, meanwhile, grabbed 48%.

The figures do not include copies sold digitally.

They do, however, show a huge boost in the number of copies sold on current-gen platforms over Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare, which saw 67% copies sold on PS4 and Xbox One.

Black Ops 3, meanwhile, is said to have generated the seventh-highest week one revenue for a Call of Duty title in the UK and the 14th highest of all time. A direct comparison to recent Call of Duty titles cannot be made, however, due to the game’s Friday release.

Activision has yet to announce sales figures for Call of Duty: Black Ops 3, but revealed last week that pre-orders were “significantly” higher than those for Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare.
