After beta testing a few months ago and some release notes making their way into the wild almost immediately, the latest and biggest PS4 firmware update is here for everyone. Firmware update 5.0 actually changes some stuff, too.
The big one is that PS4 Pro users can now stream 1080p and 60fps on Twitch, which is going to be a big deal for a lot of people. It also changes a few things in the friends and communities sections: you can organise your friends into custom lists, and now an account doesn’t have to be verified for you to follow it.
There’s also an update to the accounts management, making it easier for parents with little ‘uns to manage other accounts on the console, plus customisation for notifications so you can choose when you get pop-ups or change notification colours.
If you’ve got a PSVR headset and you bloody love watching movies in cinematic mode, it now support virtual surround sound channels for headphoness.
Probably the streaming stuff on the Pro is the main thing though, right?
