Sony is readying the next major update forPlayStation 4, and it needs the help of PS4 owners. The firmware 5.0 update will likely be so large, that a closed beta testing process is required to ensure everything will be fine and dandy for those folks who prefer a smoothly polished update. Like me.

Starting today, PS4 owners in Trumpland and Europe can sign up for an opportunity to be a beta tester. It’s your opportunity to be a console guinea pig, folks. Just like the previous firmware tests, if you’re chosen to participate you’ll get an early look at some of the new features and improvements to the PS4’s OS.

Earlier this year, beta testers for the last major update, version 4.50, were given the chance to play around with features like external HDD support, boost mode, custom wallpapers, profile colour options, and voice chat for remote play. Obviously Sony hasn’t let on what will be coming to this beta, but come August, I’m sure everything will be leaking out. As per usual.

If you’re interested, you can find out more information on the requirements and even sign up by clicking on the European, or North American links anytime from now until the beta starts at the beginning of August.

If you’ve already done the beta testing before, you should be receiving an email about the beta test very soon.
