What was it?

A 10-minute hands-on playthrough of one stage

What did we learn?

– Focused on 3-player teamwork.

– Small puzzles dominate team play.

– Controls need tightening.

How was it?

A nicely-thought out exercise in working with others. The dungeon I played through (a temple) was of medium difficulty, with me and my team encouraged to choose outfits that reflected the environment and weapons you’d find within it. Bombs were the order of the day here, and as such I picked a suit of armour that maximises explosives strength.

The dungeon itself consisted of a series of small rooms to overcome, mainly by players forming a totem and utilising their specific weapons. As I had the bow, it was up to me to stand on the shoulders of other players and fire arrows through flame artifacts to light up adjacent, unlit geometry.

The rest of the demo played on this theme: pushing blocks as a threesome, or fighting against a boss by throwing bombs in the top of its structure while it spins its whirling blades of death at you. Controls for throwing the bombs on a diagonal heading were a bit loose, often ‘snapping’ to a different angle, but this was enjoyable.

Anything Else?

Don’t let the worst bomb thrower throw the bombs.
