Recently a series of videos appeared on YouTube showcasing a work in progress Ghostbusters game. After gaining a lot of press attention, news emerged today from the ZootFly website that the game is very much real and is currently up and running on Xbox 360 hardware.
However, ZootFly writes of a major stumbling block that could determine the future of the game:
“Due to licensing issues, further development of the Ghostbusters game hit a bump on the road, but everybody here at ZootFly is working actively on resolving the challenges with the owners of the Ghostbusters IP,” reads the developer’s website. “As soon as the Ghostbusters IP issue is resolved, the whole team will go back to Ghostbusters.“
That doesn’t mean the ZootFly lot are just sitting around twiddling their thumbs. They are in fact hard at work on an original game called TimeO, a game the developer says “is closely related to Ghostbusters.“
“The game follows the adventures of two die-hard New Yorkers. They get trapped deep in the shadow world of a parallel New York. The city itself is a war machine threatening to wipe out our world and they have three days to stop it,” writes ZootFly.
For now then, you can continue to dream of a new Ghostbusters game – something that should be made considerably simpler by checking out some videos of the game in action.
