The YouTube and Maps apps, and some features of “near” will be removed from PS Vita in the coming weeks, Sony has revealed.

From January 28 the YouTube app will cease to be available for download from PlayStation Store. Support for the app will be officially dropped after April 20.

PS Vita users will be able to continue enjoying YouTube videos by directing their browser to the mobile YouTube page and logging in with the same Google account linked to the app.

Maps and features of near (obtain location address, and display maps) will be removed as part of the March PS Vita system update.

No reason for the removal of the apps has been given.
