Xbox One users will soon be able to record the last 30 seconds of gameplay footage using a shortcut on their controller, rather than relying on Kinect or the Game DVR app.

Set to be introduced with the October system update, players will be able to grab footage simply by double-tapping the Xbox button and pushing X. The console will then automatically capture and save the last 30 seconds of footage.

Players can edit the footage from within Upload Studio and share with their friends on Xbox Live or OneDrive.

The recording shortcut is one of many new features due to be included in the October system update, with a brand new Friends tab, improvements to Snap and MKV support also promised.

A launch date for the update has yet to be announced.
