Team17 has published a new Yooka-Laylee and the Impossible Lair trailer that reveals its release date — October 8 — and that over 60 tonics are headed to the new game.

Tonics provide buffs to Yooka and Laylee’s stats and abilities, and occasionally transform the art style of the world. Vendi the vending machine is back in the Impossible Lair, and offer tonics that unlock super speed, fiercer foes, and infinite rolls. ‘Trowzer’s Top Tonic Pack’ is an exclusive extra that comes with pre-orders. There are the Largee Head, Glow Worm, D.I.S.C.O. tonics, which are self-explanatory, along with the Yooka 64 tonic. This will turn back the clocks and render the new game through retro rose tinted glasses.

A spiritual successor to Banjo-Kazooie, Yooka-Laylee divided the masses when it came out two years ago. Colm thought its attempt at ‘90s charm fell flat, but maybe with a spoonful of these new tonics, the game will go down smoother this time round.

Yooka-Laylee and the Impossible Lair will launch for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Switch, and PC on October 8. Watch the release date announcement trailer below.
