Those of you hoping to see the likes of Iron Man and Luke Skywalker rock up in Kingdom Hearts 3 had better taper those expectations, as it's probably not going to happen.

Speaking with Mobile01 (translated by Siliconera), Kingdom Hearts 3 director Tetsuya Nomura was quizzed on the chances of seeing characters from Avengers and Star Wars appearing in the Disney-RPG.

After all, both franchises have now been assimilated into the Disney machine, so why not?

Well, turns out it's not that simple. Nomura-san pointed out that yes, while Disney does own both franchises now, the characters are not original Disney properties. As such, getting them into Kingdom Hearts 3 would be one tough nut to crack.

Still, that's not to say Kingdom Hearts 3 is lacking in familiar faces. We found out this week that the game will feature Pirates of the Caribbean, and we already know it's getting worlds based on Toy Story and Frozen among others.

Kingdom Hearts 3 is due out on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on January 29, 2019, and might include downloadable content at some stage.
