Finally, a Yakuza game on Nintendo Switch. SEGA’s epic urban Japanese RPG has long resisted the Nintendo Switch, with RGG Studio director Masayoshi Yokoyama having shunned the console for its technical limitations.

Thankfully, as of October 24th, 2024, Yakuza Kiwami is going to be first title to land on the console properly, and only for the second time are they coming to Nintendo consoles altogether (the first two titles were released on Wii U, thanks Lewis).

It’s a shame that we’re only getting Yakuza on Nintendo Switch a year before we hear about its successor. It does make me think that perhaps, whatever the Nintendo Switch 2 ends up being, we could see the Yakuza and Like a Dragon games considered up-front for Nintendo, instead of an afterthought decades on.
