The XDefiant closed beta period has been extended for two days and will now end on April 25, 2023 at 11 PM PT / 2 AM ET / 7 AM GMT. This decision to lengthen the testing period for the FPS entry was reportedly made because player reception so far has “exceeded expectations.”

Ubisoft executive producer Mark Rubin has stated that “it’s been incredibly humbling” to hear all of the fans’ comments. “Even though we knew we were showing you a game with serious flaws, you still understood what we were trying to do and loved it,” he would go on to say.

XDefiant’s player base has naturally taken this as good news since the new end date will now allow them to experience what many are calling “the CoD killer” even longer. Sadly, the developers are still yet to provide an actual release date, which means that gamers will have to wait indefinitely until Ubisoft decides to reveal its launch window.

Reactions to Ubisoft’s FPS installment so far have largely been positive with most players praising the brilliant maps in particular. One commenter under the official XDefiant extension announcement even stated that “most of these maps are better than anything CoD has made in four years.” Another user would then agree and say that “it’s actually amazing how great all the maps are.”

Others have even been pleading with the devs to keep the closed beta up until release instead because it’s that good. Unfortunately, this is unlikely to happen since plenty of behind-the-scenes tasks will likely need to take place before the game becomes ready for release.

But, with XDefiant’s community having remained patient and understanding all throughout the development process, it’s safe to say that their temperament will remain the same even after the closed beta has ended. Its temporary absence may even bring more excitement for the game since additional features will surely be introduced ahead of launch.
