2K Games has announced the Slingshot Content Pack, the first of two add-on content packs planned for its critically-acclaimed strategy game XCOM: Enemy Unknown.

Slingshot introduces players to a new Triad operative as they embark on a set of missions for the Council, which sees players diverting an alien ship’s course and fighting in the skies over China.

Three new maps are included in the pack, along with a new playable squad character and new character customisation options.

2K says that a release date and pricing for Slingshot will be announced “soon”.

In addition, 2K announced that the Elite Soldier Pack, previously only available to those who pre-ordered the game, is now available to all players via Xbox LIVE Marketplace, PlayStation Network and PC.

The pack features a new recruit inspired by the original X-COM: UFO Defense, plus further character customisation options.

The pack costs $4.99/400 Microsoft Points.
