Hit turn-based-strategy game XCOM 2 is heading to PS4 and Xbox One this September, 2K has announced. The game first launched on PC earlier this year.

Available in North America from September 6 and worldwide from September 9, the console versions are being developed by US studio The Workshop and will be available for a slightly lower-than-usual RRP of £39.99.

“The incredible reception of XCOM 2 has been rewarding and humbling for the team, and we’ve known console fans have been clamouring to play the game too,” said creative director Jake Solomon. “As avid console players ourselves, we’re excited to work with The Workshop to bring XCOM 2 to all of our fans.”

The game’s announcement comes as a slight surprise, however, given comments made by the CEO of 2K’s parent company last month. Just three weeks ago, Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick said that the company had announced its entire release schedule for the rest of the financial year, which runs until March 2017.
