Xbox One is regaining momentum following a bodged E3 showing, and will also benefit from having two to three times the amount of launch stock of the PS4, Baird analyst Colin Sebastian has told GamesIndustry.

“Despite losing the headline battle at E3, Microsoft’s Xbox One appears to be regaining some momentum, in part due to the used and online policy tweaks,” wrote Sebastian. “Importantly, our supply chain checks suggest Microsoft may have the benefit of a 2-3x unit advantage at launch compared to Sony’s PS4.”

Sebastian also predicts both consoles will face supply shortages at launch despite the $100 premium of the Xbox One.

Interestingly, Sebastian suggests that Microsoft may be making moves to add value to the Xbox One, with the analyst stating the firm is “working with channel partners to lessen the [price] gap” with the PS4.

Regarding the Wii U, Sebastian believes the “fate of the platform will likely rest on the popularity of Nintendo’s holiday software line-up,” and that a price cut is necessary.

With both systems facing stock shortages, but more Xbox One units being made available at launch, this indicates the Xbox One may actually outsell the PS4 this holiday.
