Curve Studios, the indie team behind Stealth Inc. and Lone Survivor, believes that Xbox One’s newly revealed indie support is “awesome”.

“For those asking, yes, Xbox news is awesome,” tweeted the studio. “Yes, we’re vocal about issues with MS and if developers were not, nothing would change!”

The developer added: “We need more than just policies and ideas though, we need people working on relationships way before we get to ‘dev kits’ and ‘stores’.”

In a statement released overnight, Xbox chief product officer Marc Whitten said that Microsoft’s vision “is that every person can be a creator. That every Xbox One can be used for development. That every game and experience can take advantage of all of the features of Xbox One and Xbox LIVE.

“This means self-publishing. This means Kinect, the cloud, achievements. This means great discoverability on Xbox LIVE.”

Retail dev kit functionality and self-publishing are expected to be available within the first 12 months of launch.

Curve has been a supporter of the PS3 and PS Vita, but has never released a game on the Xbox platform.
