Xbox boss Phil Spencer revealed he has now played games on an “early Scorpio unit” and was very impressed by what he saw and by the fact games are already nearing completion so far ahead of release.
“Great day, Scorpio update w/ team,” Tweeted Spencer. “Played my first games on early Scorpio unit. Games played great, console looked right, proud of the team.”
He added: “I don’t think we’ve had bring up of full games this early for new hw, gives teams time to tune their games for best results.”
Exactly what MS has planned for the Scorpio launch remains unknown, but all games running on Scorpio will also be fully playable on early Xbox One systems. It’s entirely possible the games Spencer played were enhanced versions of existing Xbox One titles, such as Gears of War 4, Halo 5 and Forza Horizon 3.
Xbox Scorpio is expected to launch this holiday season.
