Microsoft has announced that revenue in Q3 for its Entertainment and Devices division grew 68% over the same quarter last year, driven by “robust” demand for the Xbox 360 console.
In the third quarter ending March 31, 2008 the console sold 1.3 million units worldwide, bringing the life-to-date sales for the console to 19 million.
Despite its considerable head start at retail the Xbox 360 finds itself some 5.5 million units behind sales of Nintendo’s Wii, which Nintendo announced had sold 24.45 million units worldwide as of March 31, 2008. Nintendo expects sales for the Wii to reach around 50 million by March 31, 2009.
