According to a press release which was acquired by Team Xbox, Guitar Hero II for the Xbox 360 will be released in March and will feature a total of 74 tracks on the retail disc. The game will include ten exclusive tracks not found in the PlayStation 2 version of the game.

These new tracks, which are unlockable in the Career mode, include “Billion Dollar Babies” by Alice Cooper, “Dead!” by My Chemical Romance, “Hush” by Deep Purple, “Life Wasted” by Pearl Jam, “Rock ‘n’ Roll Hoochie Koo” by Rick Derringer, “Possum Kingdom” by Toadies, “Salvation” by Rancid and “The Trooper” by Iron Maiden.

The majority of the new tracks are covers, but “Dead!” and “Possum Kingdom” are listed as master tracks, which means they will appear in the game as the original recordings and not covers. Two tracks remain under wraps for now.

The Xbox 360 version of the game will support a new white guitar (sadly not wireless) and the usual Xbox 360 bonuses of Achievement points and leaderboards. In addition, Xbox 360 rockers will be able to purchase new songs from Xbox Live Marketplace, with RedOctane planning to have content available from the day the game is released – details are expected next month.
