Earlier this week Microsoft announced it will launch a 250GB Xbox 360 hard drive, to buy independently from the console, on April 16. At the time it was reported the storage device would retail at £79.99.

While not overly extortionate there was a feeling that Microsoft could have offered it slightly cheaper. Well, it turns out that the reported £79.99 price was incorrect and it will in fact retail at a lower £64.99 price point.

The news comes from Xbox community manager Europe Graeme Boyd, who also confirmed the hard drive will come with a data transfer kit, enabling data from an existing hard drive to be moved to the new drive.

Update A Microsoft rep has just confirmed to VideoGamer.com that the 250GB hard drive will not be released priced £64.99 as reported by Xbox community manager Europe Graeme Boyd.

“I can confirm that £79.99 is the correct price,” said the rep.
