Team 17 has announced that Worms 2: Armageddon, a sequel to the 1999 hit Worms Armageddon, will be released on Xbox LIVE Arcade on July 1 priced 800 MS Points.

Worms 2: Armageddon promises to massively extend the feature set of the original game. This includes a raft of new weapons and game content, modes and extensions – many of which featured in Open Warfare 2.

Team17 says it’s listened hard to the fans and has reinstated cult weapons, added amazing new weapons, implemented incredible customisation of Worms teams and added totally new physics.

“Sure, we could have charged more,” said Team 17. “With digital titles we get more of the pie than we do with retail games. Actually we likely get more from a $10 digital release than we would a $60 full retail release. In this case, with price being low, everyone wins.”

Worms 2: Armageddon will be available on Xbox LIVE Arcade from July 1. A PC version is in development and will be released later this year.
