Sony Computer Entertainment Europe has announced World Tour Soccer 2 for the PSP, due for release in June 2006. Developed exclusively for the handheld, the game focuses on quick points-based game modes. There’ll be eleven game modes in all, each asking the player to score points by performing certain tasks, from successfully completing passes to competing against a shot clock.

Head-to-head play will be supported, with four players able to battle it out locally, while two players can compete over the internet. New game modes are also going to be made available after the game’s release.

World Tour Soccer had its problems, but the challenge mode gave it something that the other PSP footy games didn’t offer. Sony might just have a winner on its hands this June.
