Progress on the World of Warcraft movie is continuing, with Legendary Pictures hiring Charles Leavitt to pen a new script for the video game to movie adaptation.
Leavitt already has a good working relationship with Legendary, having written the script for 2013’s The Seventh Son.
Activision Blizzard’s Bobby Kotick told Variety that if it’s “important to Blizzard, it’s important to me. They’re very excited about having a ‘World of Warcraft’ film. They’ve been very careful and thoughtful about the development process.”
Search for a new director continues after Sam Raimi pulled out of the project due to commitments on the Oz movie. Variety suggests that the World of Warcraft film will release no earlier than 2014.
