Square Enix has confirmed it will make “unavoidable” cuts to the workforce at Championship Manager dev Beautiful Game Studios. It’s not clear how severe the cuts will be, but Square Enix has confirmed that action will be taken before Christmas.

“Our current business model does not allow us to compete in a fast-changing industry with any degree of flexibility or commercial confidence,” read a prepared statement by the publisher.

“To achieve this, we will be restructuring Beautiful Game Studios, which will regrettably bring with it unavoidable job losses.”

Despite the layoffs, it looks as though there is a future for Championship Manager, with the publisher stating that the new business model will help “build a successful commercial future for the Championship Manager brand”.

Championship Manger 2010 is out now for PC.
