CD Projekt RED is in discussions with Microsoft to see if it can come up with a way to transfer save files from the Xbox 360 version of The Witcher 2 over to the Xbox One version of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt.

“We need to talk to Microsoft to see if we can make [save transfers] work between 360 and the Xbox One, but it could work,” executive producer John Mamais told God Is A Geek. “We’re talking to our tech contact and it’s kind of an open question right now.”

The Witcher series has previously allowed users to import save data from earlier titles to transfer items and money.

Such a thing is “impossible” for the PlayStation 4 version, however, due to previous games skipping release on PS3. To make up for it, though, CD Projekt RED is considering “doing a Q and A type thing like [BioWare] did with Mass Effect”.

“We’d like some way to establish a starting point for the character on that console,” Mamais continued. “It’s important to us, because you need that continuity. People get attached to their character, so we’ll do what we can. I promise.”

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt launches on PC, Xbox One and PS4 next year.
