Sony Computer Entertainment America has announced that WipEout HD is to be available on the PlayStation Store from September 25, priced $19.99. Sony Computer Entertainment Europe has already confirmed a £11.99 price for us Brits, but is yet to say anything official regarding a release date. Hopefully we’ll hear something soon.

In case you’ve missed all the hype, WipEout HD will feature 60 frames per second racing action, all presented in stunning 1080p with 5.1 sound – it really does look amazing for a downloadable title. There are five game modes on offer, including Single Race, Tournament, Time Trial, Speed Lap and Zone Mode.

There’s also multiplayer support for eight players online or two locally using split screen. You’ve got eight reversible tracks to master and 12 teams. Motion-loving gamers can even choose to control their craft using the Sixaxis motion controls, just like in MotorStorm.

To top this off there’s even full support for PS3 Trophies, details on which are promised soon.

Look out for out full review tomorrow.
